I live at in Scutari Road SE22 and am very concerned at the speed with which vehicles frequently travel down this road. This behaviour is undoubtedly encouraged by the lack of traffic calming in the lower half of Scutari Road.
Cars, vans and lorries frequently rarely stick to the twenty mile an hour speed limit and often drive at speeds well in excess of thirty miles per hour. This problem has got much worse since the traffic lights were installed at the end of Coyton Road meaning that Scutari Road is used as a ‘rat run’ in the morning and evening rush hours for vehicles wishing to avoid the lights.
I understand that someone in the road objected to the speed humps which were about to be put in a few years ago and this is the reason why the plan to put them in in the lower part of the road was not implemented.
There are now many more families with children living in and around Scutari road and who use the road to walk to Peckham Rye Park.
One night few years ago a car speeding down Scurari Road, crashed and overturned outside our house writing off a car and a motor bike and damaging a second car.
Surely something needs to be done to reduce vehicle speeds on this road.
